Discovering the sink

First of all, I just want to say that I'm sorry. There are, like, 40 pictures. I just couldn't help myself. I try to limit my annoying mommy-bloggy-ness, but I just couldn't stop it this time. Mia discovered the sink. She has found that she can close the toilet lid, climb on top, stand on her tip-toes and reach the faucet. Thankfully, she can only reach the cold water. The hot water is way far away for her tiny arms. However, this was a pretty exciting discovery for her.

Commander in Chief

Mia takes command at my desk. She also has a water bottle in case she needs to hydrate.

1 1/2 eggs the richer

Mia had the first Easter egg hunt of her entire life tonight, and she did fantastic. She scored 1 1/2 eggs. We went out to the Plaza District, one of the coolest neighborhoods in Oklahoma City. They have fun activities every month, and their theme this month was Easter. First, we listened to the rules from our friend, Kristen, who runs the Plaza District and happens to be a spectacular artist. Halfway through her instructions, the children scattered. Because Mia was shorter than most of them by, say, 2 feet, we decided to sneak down a quite alley that didn't have any fast children to snatch eggs out from under her. We passed one egg that was nasty and broken and set our sights on one that was just waiting for Miss Mia. Success! After the drawn-out process of picking up this one egg, we had to move on to picking up bits of candy that the older kids dropped. We also managed to recover half of a plastic egg somewhere else down the street. Mia didn't care. She enjoyed it. I'm pretty sure she thought we were picking up litter.

Food? Charity? Yes.

I love helping charities. I also love eating. Every couple months, Sunbeam Family Services combines my two loves and gives me an excuse to go eat at S&B Burger Joint, which I'm pretty sure has no redeeming nutritional value. I took Megan with me because, honestly, where else would you have lunch with your running buddy?

Taking the trash out

As we know, our child is all excited about chores. Well, now she's taken it to a new level. As we were leaving the house, Mia grabbed her dirty diaper bag and carried it out with her. We threw it in the trash can, which she thought was great fun. She's the most responsible tiny person ever.

Leaf me alone - I'm working!

We have known for some time that Mia loves to clean. Apparently, she also loves yard work. Bagging leaves is hard!

Bryan gets married!

Our friend Bryan Dean got married! Aw. Little Deaner. Growing up. Sarah looked beautiful, Bryan looked nervous and the whole ceremony lasted approximately 38 seconds. Leigh was a groomsman, and he did a great job at, you know, walking and standing. It was at the state capitol, where Leigh and I got married. (Aw!) We finally had something fancy enough to put Mia in her amazing red dress from my grandparents. Look at this kid! None of our pictures of the ceremony turned out, and we didn't take any pictures with the bride and groom! We suck. So here are some random pictures we took right before we left. With Uncle Clay: Running crazed through the halls of the Oklahoma Capitol: Leigh and his mom, Jill: This is Leigh's favorite photo. He was taking forever to take the picture and there's a very limited window in which you can photograph a toddler. So he took this picture after the opportunity had slipped away. Then he showed it to everyone he could. "Do you see this?!? I get this look every day!" hahaha
We tried the photo again, this time with my mom. Mission accomplished:

Time with Grandma

My mom came in town this weekend to spend some time with Mia while we were out and about for Bryan Dean's wedding. It took so much convincing to get my mom to come babysit for Mia for the weekend.
