Hitting the road

We hit the road for our summer vacation! We're calling it The Grand Tour of the Midwest. We're hitting Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa, with maybe some stops in Missouri and Kansas City.

We drove overnight so Mia would be able to sleep through most of the 14-hour trip. We found this gem on our first stop to swap drivers.


Then we stopped in Cuba.


Mia slept really well in the car. She did some impressive leg gymnastics in her car seat.


What we didn't expect was for Mia to wake up really early. Her eyes popped open at 5:30 a.m., so we pulled over to a fabulous playground and rest stop near Bloomington, Ill. Mia took a picture of Leigh:


The rest of the time we played. She was a gem for the rest of the trip to Harvard, Ill.
