Baby Edgar

Alison is still on maternity leave, so I decided to hop on over and visit her and wee little Edgar without the assistance of Mia. First and foremost, Alison was born to be a mother. Holy moly. She's the best. Secondly, Edgar is so teeny tiny. It's amazing to see him and think that Mia was that small. Was she that small? Was she such a little baby like that once? She was. She's gotten so big so quickly. People always say that it happens like that, but you don't realize how fast everything is. So it's nice to see good friends like Alison and hold miniature munchkins like Edgar.

Stick her in a tree

Leigh took Mia tree climbing. As you can imagine, I predicted this would end up with a trip to the emergency room and a cast. But it didn't! Hooray! Climbing up to the first branch is quite the adventure when you're not quite 3 feet tall.

Swimming in a puddle

We spent the evening swimming in the pool at Jill's condo complex, and it's so interesting what Mia finds exciting. She divided her time three ways: swinging her arms side to side while singing, jumping into the water in fits of joy and splashing in a tiny puddle near the pool.

A family finish

Mia and Leigh joined me for a 5k this weekend and everything aside, the $20 registration was worth Mia getting the chance to bounce in a bounce house for an hour by herself. It was a small race - maybe 300 runners - and there weren't very many kids. So Mia had the bounce house all to herself. Best day ever.

As I rounded the last corner, Mia and Leigh were standing there, waving and cheering me on. I grabbed Mia and carried her on my shoulders for the last quarter mile or so. It was so much fun, but I'm pretty sure she still liked the bounce house best.
