The day our daughter went insane

Mia is a sweet, mild-mannered child most of the time. She happened to discover her outside voice today ... at the library. I tried to take her picture, but she was too crazy. This picture of her and Leigh makes me laugh and laugh. I'm pretty sure he's about to say, "Do you see this kid?"

What made her go gaga? Classical music. Of course. What else would cause such a mini-riot?

We took Mia to the library for a Dr. Seuss story time featuring a string quartet from the Oklahoma City Philharmonic. They played along as narrators read some of Dr. Seuss's stories. It was absolutely delightful.

This was Mia's first time to see live music, and she spent a few minutes just staring, open-mouthed. She was in awe. I was so excited!

Then she was off to the races.

She wanted to be put down. Then she wanted to walk around the room. Then she wanted to run. Then she wanted to shout. Leigh took her out of the story room and walked her around the rest of the quiet library. He brought her back, and she was a tornado again.

We decided to call it quits and spend some time reading books in the children's section. Bad idea. As you can see from the photos above, she was way too excited. She couldn't hold still. We finally called it a night when she pulled some books of a shelf.

So we're pretty sure Mia likes classical music.
